Terms of Service

Last Updated: September 21, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website, software, services, and related features provided by Docsheim ("we," "us," or "our"), including our InDesign-to-DOCX conversion software (the "Software").

By downloading, installing, purchasing, activating, or using the Software or our services, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Software or services.

1. About the Service

Our Software converts supported Adobe InDesign document formats, including IDML files, into Microsoft Word DOCX files.

The Software is designed to operate locally on your computer. Document conversion is performed on your device and does not require Adobe InDesign to be installed.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, your source documents and converted documents are not uploaded to our servers as part of the conversion process.

Certain online services may be required for license activation, license validation, usage verification, software updates, and subscription management.

These Terms cover the website, your account, subscriptions and payments. Your use of the installed Software is additionally governed by the End User License Agreement (EULA). Personal data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy, and refunds and cancellation in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

2. Adobe InDesign Is Not Required

Adobe InDesign is not required to perform document conversion using the Software.

However, source files must be provided in a format supported by the Software. Certain InDesign-specific features, third-party plug-ins, fonts, linked resources, or document elements may affect conversion results.

Adobe, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, PSD, and AI are trademarks or registered trademarks of Adobe Inc. Our Software is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Adobe Inc., unless expressly stated otherwise.

Microsoft and Microsoft Word are trademarks or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. Our Software is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft Corporation.

3. Free Trial

We may offer a free trial of the Software.

Unless otherwise stated at the time the trial is issued, the trial is limited to:

whichever occurs first.

No payment method is required for the free trial unless otherwise clearly stated before activation.

Trial duration, page limits, available features, and other trial conditions may vary for future promotions or versions of the Software. The conditions displayed when a trial license is issued will apply to that trial.

We may restrict repeated trial registrations or other attempts to circumvent trial limitations.

4. Paid Subscriptions

Paid access to the Software may be offered through monthly, annual, or other subscription plans.

The applicable price, billing period, features, device limits, and other conditions will be displayed at the time of purchase.

Prices may change from time to time. A price change does not automatically modify an already completed purchase or an existing subscription except as disclosed to you and permitted by applicable law.

Unless otherwise stated, a subscription provides a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Software for the duration of the applicable subscription.

5. Payments

Payments and subscription billing may be processed by Paddle or another authorized payment provider.

When purchasing a subscription, you may be subject to the payment provider's terms, privacy policies, tax rules, refund procedures, and billing requirements.

We do not directly receive or store complete payment card information when payment information is processed by our payment provider.

Applicable taxes, including VAT, sales tax, or similar taxes, may be added or handled by the payment provider as required by law.

6. Automatic Renewal

If your subscription is configured for automatic renewal, it will renew at the applicable billing interval unless you cancel renewal before the renewal date.

The renewal price will be the price applicable to your subscription as communicated to you in accordance with applicable law and the payment provider's procedures.

You are responsible for maintaining valid payment information with the applicable payment provider.

7. Cancellation

You may cancel automatic renewal of your subscription through the available subscription or payment management interface.

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, cancellation of automatic renewal does not immediately terminate access that has already been paid for.

Your current paid period remains active after you cancel renewal. You may continue using the Software until the end of that period; the license then expires unless the subscription is renewed.

This does not affect any cancellation or withdrawal rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer protection laws.

8. Payment Failure

If a renewal payment fails, we may provide a temporary grace period before disabling the associated license.

The grace period is one (1) day from the end of the paid period, unless a different period is displayed for your subscription. During the grace period the license remains active.

If payment is not successfully completed within the grace period, the license expires and access to paid features is suspended.

Access may be restored after the subscription returns to good standing.

9. License Tokens

Access to the Software may be controlled through a license token.

A license token is provided for use by the person or organization associated with the applicable license or subscription.

You are responsible for keeping your license token secure and should not publish, sell, share, sublicense, or distribute it to unauthorized persons.

A license token does not represent ownership of the Software. It is a credential used to verify your right to use the Software under an applicable license.

10. Lost or Reissued License Tokens

If a license token is lost, a replacement token may be issued after verification of the associated purchase or subscription. You can issue a replacement yourself in the license portal after signing in with the email address used at purchase, or contact us.

Once a replacement token is issued, the previous token will be immediately invalidated.

The replacement token will normally retain the applicable subscription and license conditions associated with the verified purchase.

We reserve the right to limit or reject excessive, suspicious, fraudulent, or abusive token replacement requests.

11. Device Limit

A paid license may be activated on up to two (2) devices, unless a different limit is specified for your plan.

A device may be identified using a locally generated or derived device identifier.

If you replace a computer or can no longer access an activated device, you can release the device in the license portal, or contact customer support.

Attempting to circumvent device limits or using a single-user license as a shared multi-user license may result in suspension or termination of the license.

Different plans may provide different device limits.

12. Offline Use

After successful online license validation, the Software may operate offline for a limited period.

An activated application may operate offline for up to seven (7) days from the most recent successful license validation, unless otherwise specified for your license.

After the offline period expires, an internet connection may be required to validate the license before continued use.

License validation may also be required following token replacement, license suspension, subscription expiration, significant device changes, or other security-related events.

13. Local Document Processing

Document conversion is performed locally on your computer.

As part of normal conversion, we do not require your IDML documents, generated DOCX documents, document text, images, PSD files, AI files, or other document contents to be uploaded to our servers.

The Software may communicate with our servers for limited operational purposes such as:

Additional information about the data we collect and process is provided in our Privacy Policy.

14. Conversion Results

We design the Software to produce accurate, editable DOCX output while preserving supported document structures, formatting, layouts, images, and other content where technically possible.

However, InDesign and Microsoft Word use different document and layout models. As a result, exact reproduction of every document element cannot be guaranteed.

Conversion results may vary depending on factors including:

You are responsible for reviewing converted documents before using them for publishing, printing, distribution, production, or other important purposes.

15. High-Resolution Images and Linked Assets

The Software may support high-resolution images and linked assets, including supported PSD and AI files.

Successful processing may depend on whether the required linked assets are available and accessible to the Software.

We do not guarantee that every feature, effect, layer, color profile, transparency setting, or other characteristic of every third-party file format can be reproduced identically in DOCX.

16. Software Updates

We may provide updates, patches, improvements, compatibility updates, or new versions of the Software.

Updates may modify, add, remove, or replace functionality where reasonably necessary for product development, compatibility, security, or maintenance.

Access to certain updates or major versions may depend on your subscription or license plan.

We may discontinue support for outdated versions when reasonably necessary.

17. Acceptable Use

You may not:

18. Your Documents and Content

You retain ownership of your documents and other content.

We do not acquire ownership of your source documents or converted DOCX files merely because you use the Software.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights and permissions to process, convert, reproduce, modify, or distribute documents and assets using the Software.

The Software does not grant you rights to copyrighted material, fonts, images, trademarks, or other intellectual property belonging to third parties.

19. Intellectual Property

The Software, website, documentation, user interface, branding, underlying technology, and related materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Except for the limited rights expressly granted under these Terms or an applicable license, no ownership rights in the Software are transferred to you.

20. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate a license or access to our services when reasonably necessary because of:

Where appropriate and reasonably possible, we may provide notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue before termination.

Termination does not affect rights or obligations that by their nature should survive termination.

21. Refunds

Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy (/refund), the terms of the applicable payment provider, and any mandatory rights available under applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms limits statutory refund, withdrawal, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

22. Third-Party Software and Services

The Software may interact with, process files created by, or depend upon technologies provided by third parties.

Third-party products and services are governed by their respective terms and policies.

We are not responsible for changes made by third-party vendors that may affect compatibility, except to the extent required by applicable law.

23. Availability

We aim to provide reliable access to license validation and related online services, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

Services may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, network failures, third-party service interruptions, security incidents, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

The Software's offline license functionality is intended to reduce dependency on continuous network availability but does not guarantee indefinite offline use.

24. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Software and services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We do not warrant that the Software will meet every requirement, convert every document perfectly, operate without interruption, or be free from all errors.

Nothing in this section excludes warranties, guarantees, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

25. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Docsheim and its officers, employees, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Software or services, including loss of profits, business, data, or production time.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our aggregate liability arising from the Software or services will not exceed the amount you paid to us for the applicable Software or subscription during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations do not apply where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

26. Changes to the Service

We may modify the Software, services, licensing system, available plans, pricing, or features from time to time.

Changes to pricing or subscription terms will be handled in accordance with applicable law and communicated where required.

Changes to future plans or offers do not automatically alter the terms of a previously completed purchase unless expressly stated and legally permitted.

27. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and provide additional notice where required by applicable law.

Your continued use of the Software after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of those Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

28. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws provide otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms deprives consumers of protections available under laws that cannot contractually be waived.
